The Saints showed an improved Performance last weekend when they traveled to Emirates against Arsenal. However they still lost the game 3-2 bringing another disappointment to the fans.

They took the lead in the game, before Arsenal’s 2 goals in 10 minutes put them behind. Saints still got an equalizer in the second half but a late winner from Welbeck sealed their fate.

Southampton are still in Premier League relegation zone, they are 18th in the table and have just a point above Stoke in 19th and 3 points below safety spot.

Chelsea on the other hand have been on a dismal run of late and can’t be seen as clear favorites in this game. The FA Cup is their only hope of silverware this season and that’s same with Southampton.

The two teams will still meet later this month in the FA Cup and this will be a huge boost for the team that wins this game.

The Blues played out a 1-1 draw at home against a London side West Ham. Prior to this game they lost a London derby against Spurs and have just 2 wins in their last 8 league games.

On the road, Chelsea have won just 2 of their last 9 Premier League games and this will be a difficult game for them. Southampton last won a home game in November but have drawn 5 out of their 8 games since then. The Saints have kept just 1 clean sheets in this period while Chelsea have kept just 2 clean sheets in their last 9 trips.

We will likely see goals at both ends in this game while expect the game to end in draw.
