COULD THIS BE GUARDIOLA’S YEAR?
Pep Guardiola’s manchester city side are one of the two unbeaten teams
in the premier league this season with three (3) victories and one (1)
draw so far this season. Before playing against liverpool, manchester
city struggled in the matches against everton and bournemouth, needing
dying minute goal from sterling to seal a point against everton and a
97th minute strike from the english international raheem sterling to
ensure they collected all 3 points against bournemouth.
There was an influx of fresh faces to the blue part of manchester this
season, with Guardiola getting rid of anyone he feels cannot play his
pattern of football. The major problem the city boss faces as a result
of that is getting his new players to adapt quickly to the rigors and
pace of the premier league.
Against fellow title hopeful’s liverpool, Guardiola’s side executed
their game plan perfectly and ran out 5 – 0 winners. If Pep
Guardiola’s side carry on with this type of performance, there is no
reason they won’t be up there come may.
KLOPP HAS BIGGER PROBLEMS
Jurgen klopp has ensured he stregthened his attack this season with
the arrival of Mohammed Salah, Oxlade Chamberlain and keeping of
Coutinho but the problem with liverpool was never their attack, rather
it was their defence that let them down so major defensive
re-inforcements where expected at anfield. Despite the the chasing of
Virgil Van Dijk through out the summer transfer window, no defender
was signed and for that reason thesame problem liverpool faced last
season has already started to plague them this season. The liverpool
defence conceded three (3) goals against watford and now five (5)
against manchester city. CAN LIVERPOOL CONTEND FOR THE TITLE WITH
THEIR CURRENT DEFENCE?
COULD STOKE CITY EXCEDE EXPECTATIONS?
For the past few years, stoke city have been a mid-table side but
could they push for those european places this season? If they
continue the way they started, there is no reason they won’t push for
a 7th place finish. Their only loss this season was in their first
game away at everton where everton ran out 1-0 winners and they have
bounced back since then with a deserved victory against arsenal and a
draw against the table topping united.
CHELSEA SHOULD NOT BE UNDER-ESTIMATED
After the 3-2 loss to burnley, Conte’s team has looked unstoppable
with deserved victories against tottenham, everton and leicester. At
the begining of the season, there were reports of a rift between
Antonio Conte and the chelsea board after loosing out on a number of
top targets but such reports have died down with the signings made on
transfer deadline day and the return of eden hazard from injury. The
bookmakers predicted the title to go to manchester but with the way
chelsea are playing currently, they could prove the book makers wrong.
ARE THE NORTH-LONDON CLUBS IN THE TITLE RACE?
Arsene Wenger’s arsenal responded with a statement of intent after
being hammered 4-0 by liverpool. The big question for arsene wengerwould be can they play in the manner which they played againstbournemouth when they face chelsea. Arsene Wengers side will be
boosted with the availability of sanchez after his move to manchester
city did not go through.
Tottenham face a a huge task this this season of mounting a title
challenge after their move from white hart lane to wembley. Since
their move to wembley, they have failed to pick up maximum points in
their two games at wembly. The question for tottenham is CAN THEY TURN
WEMBLEY INTO A FORTRESS?
