High flying Premier League table toppers Manchester City isn’t pleased with prospect of meeting Liverpool in Champions League quarter-finals says Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
The two Premier League teams are the only Premier League teams left in the Champions League Friday quarter-finals draw. The draw also paired last season finalist Juventus against the holders Real Madrid.
First leg of the quarter-finals will be played at Anfield on 4th of April while the reverse leg is on April 10 at Etihad Stadium.
The two sides have met twice in the Premier League this season which resulted in City’s on Premier League loss this season.
Manchester City won Liverpool 5-0 at home in September, while Liverpool won 4-3 at Anfield in the reverse leg.
The Citizens fooball director Txiki witnessed the draw live in Switzerland which he admitted the tie was a difficult one.
What Jurgen Klopp thinks about Liverpool vs Manchester City
During Klopp’s press conference ahead of Saturday’s Premier home game against Watford, he said
“I think it is an absolute dream draw – for all Manchester United fans.
“I knew it would be difficult and that is difficult. The good news is for Manchester City it will be difficult as well.
“I saw Txiki Begiristain’s face after the draw – and it didn’t look like it was Christmas and Easter on the same day.”
Manchester City reached the quarter-finals after a 5-2 aggregate win over Base. They won 4-0 in Switzerland but lost 2-1 at Etihad.
Liverpool had an impressive outing in both fixtures against Porto, winning 5-0 in Portugal and a goalless draw at Anfield sealed it for the Reds
Txiki was of the opinion that an all-English tie had taken the shine off City’s quarter-final draw.
“We like to travel and to go to another country in the Champions League but it is what it is,” Begiristain said on City’s website.
Meanwhile, Sevilla haven eliminated Manchester United were handed a tie against German Giants Bayern Munich.
